Text 14 Feb 5 notes cantankerous canker sore

Sometime late last week, I was calmly eating a yummy dinner with my family when my teeth made a major error and chomped down on the right side of my tongue, hard. It was frustrating, mostly because whenever I bite my cheek or lip or tongue, I never ever fail to develop a canker sore on the injured spot. So I was far from surprised to see a canker sore develop exactly where my tongue had been bitten.

I was not, however, expecting the thing to affect my day-to-day life. I mean yeah, okay, it was going to be harder to eat; I only use the left side of my mouth to eat anything now, but things like drinking cold/normal temperature beverages have become seriously painful because the side of my tongue scrapes my teeth everytime I swallow.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

I can’t swallow normally without pursing my lips all weirdly because I can’t use my tongue to gather the saliva in my mouth. I cannot pronounce my s’s without pain because it makes my tongue touch my teeth. And sometimes, for no reason at all, the stupid thing decides to hurt like CRAZY when I’m simply moving around.

I’ve already tried using Scope, but that didn’t do crap even after four uses, so I’m resorting to a rather intimidating little bottle of medicine given to me by my homestay. I’m supposed to dip a cotton swab into the stuff and hold it onto my sore, but apparently it hurts a lot. The box says “For external use only: cauterization, irrigations.” Gee, this isn’t shady at all. But James is alive and well, so I guess tonight will be a night of tears…

I just want this ridiculous sore to DIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIE
